| Clients Benefit from Culinary Excellence Award Challenge
Boston Culinary Group managers continue to find innovative ways to advance the company’s culinary capabilities, and the winners of this year’s Culinary Excellence Award confirm that. The goal of the competition is to take the services we provide to our clients and guests to a higher level. The year-long competition concluded with the announcement of the winners at the annual awards banquet during the 2006 National Meeting. |

First place went to Todd Tinney and his team at the Charleston Civic Center in West Virginia. They partnered with a local charity to host a signature event, “The McGala.” The “Phantom of the Opera” themed event garnered free press, great public relations and created awareness of our catering abilities within the community.
Second place was awarded to Franco Brady and his crew at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania. He instituted an “Iron Chef” challenge with the goal of coming up with a new vegetarian entrée. Two teams were formed and given 24 hours and a limited budget to make their presentation. The contest motivated the staff, promoted teamwork and resulted in several new menu items for The Grille at Bear Creek.
Third place went to Kenny Baggett and the staff of the Tulsa Convention Center in Oklahoma for the “Client Appreciation Party” they produced. The goal was to create a more exciting event than those held previously which would generate new business and revenue. They formed a partnership with a local event planning company and transformed a lackluster exhibit hall into an elegant space. As a result of this event new business was booked and a renewed awareness of the capabilities of the convention center was realized.
We can’t wait to see what our culinary teams will come up with for next year’s competition!
