At the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee,
home of the “worlds fastest half mile” NASCAR Nextel
Cup races sell out all 160,000 seats. Boston Culinary
Group has been there to provide services to race fans since
1994. Our food and beverage sales for race week now exceed
$1 million. |
Bristol Motor Speedway, known as Thunder Valley, is tucked into
the Appalachian foothills in eastern Tennessee about six miles
south of the Virginia border. The track is 115 miles east
of Knoxville, and 160 miles west of Winston-Salem, NC. Bristol
is one of the shortest tracks on the Nextel Cup circuit (0.53
miles) and has the highest banking, which makes for an appealing
combination for driver and spectator alike. The speedway
was added to the NASCAR schedule in 1961 and the surface was
changed from asphalt to concrete in 1992. Bristol's attendance,
once a mere 18,000 people for race days, now reaches well over
160,000. This is due in large part to the reconstruction
of the speedway's backstretch. The noise from the races
is enhanced by the enclosed configuration of the seating bowl.
As one of NASCAR's most popular tracks, Bristol is constantly
upgrading its facilities and expanding its capacity. The
track has doubled its seating in recent years and added a video
board and electronic scoreboard to the infield. Bristol
hosts two NASCAR weekends each year, featuring a Busch series
race and a Nextel Cup race. Races we have hosted include
the Nextel Cup-Food City 500, the Sharpie 500, the Busch Food
City 250 and the Sharpie 250. The races are typically
run in March and August.
Boston Culinary Group has an exclusive concessions agreement
with Bristol and like the races themselves, our services are
exciting and fast paced. In addition to catering, suite
and vending programs we also operate 60 food outlets around the
track. Fans don’t have to go very far to find what
they need, it’s deciding what to eat that presents a challenge! Papa
John’s, Subway and Arby’s are just a few of the options
available to hungry race-goers at Bristol, in addition to a full
menu of selections in our concession stands, cafeterias, bars,
restaurants and private clubs. |
