Sugarloaf/USA
 |
Sugarloaf/USA is located in the heart of Carrabassett Valley,
which was carved by the Carrabassett River and is surrounded by
Maine's Western Mountains. Maine's largest cities, Portland
and Bangor, offer major airport service to Sugarloaf. Boston
and Montreal are only four hours away. |
Sugarloaf is Maine's
second highest peak at 4,237 ft. It offers the only lift-serviced
above tree-line skiing in the East and 2,820 ft. of vertical, the
most continuous in New England! There are 1,400 skiable acres
from boundary to boundary with 133 trails and glades. Ninety
four percent of the mountain is covered by snowmaking and it receives
206" of snow per year on average. There are 15 lifts,
two SuperQuads, two high-capacity quads, 8 doubles, 1 triple and
2 surface lifts. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails
offer a great variety of treks through the beautiful Maine woods.
Around the lodge area there is a variety of beginner terrain which
provides a perfect start for first time skiers and novices. One
hundred kilometers of groomed trail loops include routes through
the village and lodging facilities at the base of Sugarloaf.
Boston Culinary Group has a longstanding relationship with Sugarloaf
going back almost 20 years. We provide a wide variety of
services to mountain visitors. Whether it be serving lunch to a
hungry pack of skiers at our mid-mountain restaurant Bullwinkle’s,
or catering to a large group of conference attendees in the King
Pine Room at the baselodge, we do it all at “The Loaf”,
as it is affectionately known by locals. You can start the
day off right with a cup of Starbuck’s coffee at the Whistle
Stop snack bar and at days end swap stories of fresh tracks and
big bumps over a couple cocktails at the Widowmaker Bar & Grill. If
you prefer a more sophisticated dining experience, the 100 seat
Double Diamond Restaurant features great steaks and a fine wine
selection by the bottle and the glass.
Premium service is required when you host world class events,
and we have seen many at Sugarloaf. The Alpine and Freestyle
Nationals have both been held at the mountain in addition to many
indoor and outdoor concerts featuring national acts such as Willie
Nelson, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Little Feat, Eddie Money and Warren
Zevon. Our spring Reggae Fest usually draws upwards of 10,000
people.
Skiers and conference attendees agree that Sugarloaf is a truly
unique place. Meeting planners often comment that the village
atmosphere keeps groups focused and together, and come back again
and again.
