| During
a solid holiday week it is not uncommon for our theatres to
accommodate more than 160,000 movie goers, gross over $1,000,000
at the box office and bring in an additional $400,000 in concessions
sales.
In
an average year we will sell a staggering 300,000 pounds
of popcorn, 35,000 cases of theatre candy, and 1.5 million
cups of soda. Our staff will make and breakdown over
3,500 movie reels in order to show them on
the “Big
Screen”
Boston Culinary Group owns and operates 23 theatres throughout
the northeastern United States. They extend as far south
as Cape May, New Jersey, west to Seaford, NY, east to Martha’s
Vineyard and north all the way to Bangor, ME. We manage all
aspects of theatre operations, including the projection booth,
concessions stands and box offices. In total we operate approximately
170 screens and have direct relations with major movie companies
such as Warner Brothers, Fox, Buena Vista and Tri-Star. In addition,
we handle all of our own “bookings” of films,
as well as those of several other theatres and theatre chains.
From the District Managers to the ticket takers, we employ close
to 400 employees.
Theatres range from select “Art Houses” in Newport,
RI, North Conway, NH and Edgartown, MA on Martha’s Vineyard
to multiplexes located in busy suburban neighborhoods such as South
Kingstown, RI and Seymour, CT. Our true “niche” has
become the neighborhood theatres in suburban towns.
Our theatre division also has the ability to capitalize on “special
showing” events where groups or schools can rent auditoriums
out to have private showings. Most larger chains don’t
have the available time during the day to offer this kind of service.
We also have a successful birthday party program in our theatres
where kids receive a discounted price on their tickets and are
encouraged to purchase “Fun Packs”, which include popcorn,
candy and soda. They arrive prior to the film, have cake,
open presents and then head into the theatre.
